UPDATE 2/1/11 – This message is now posted on Cashbaq’s home page. I think it’s safe to say than any cash back funds earned will not be paid out.
Like so many other companies, Cashbaq was hit by the worst recession of our lifetime. We regret that Cashbaq is unable to continue operations and has shut down.
UPDATE 1/29/11 - Please read the comments below concerning the unknown status of the Cashbaq program at this time. I will post an update as I learn more. I recommend not signing up for the Cashbaq program until we learn more about its ability to stay afloat and take care of their loyal customers. Cashbaq has been a solid program up until this point. – Julie
If you’ve been a regular reader here, you already know that I’m pretty sold on cash back shopping programs. Many of you are already familiar with Ebates and the great savings you can get when you shop through their links. But there are several other great cash back shopping websites and today I’m talking about Cashbaq. I’ve been featuring Cashbaq on this blog for several weeks, and now it’s time for my official review!
For those of you unfamiliar with “cash back shopping”, when you make a purchase online, you CAN receive a percentage of your purchase price back in cash when you make your purchase through the store links at these websites. Most of these sites feature the larger retail stores that many of us already shop at, in addition to lesser known stores. In a nutshell, if you’re already shopping online, why not save a little money via cash back while doing so?
Cashbaq’s tag line is “Friends Don’t Let Friends Pay Retail”. That’s so true. You might be wondering what benefit there is in joining multiple cash back rewards sites. Well, while it’s true that they all feature many of the same merchant links, you will find some differences. If you’re making a $100 purchase, a difference of 1% means one dollar. That may not seem like much to some people, but frugal shoppers know that those dollars add up. I’ve joined several sites for this very reason. I can tell you right here that Cashbaq offers 1% more cash back at Kohls and Drugstore.com than Ebates does, just to name a couple. Conversely, you’ll find that Ebates will have higher cash back rewards than Cashbaq at certain stores. My point is that it pays to shop around even at cash back reward sites!
I made my first purchase through Cashbaq two weeks ago. I had received a free promotional sample of coffee from Joffrey’s Coffee about a month ago. To say that I’m a coffee fanatic is an understatement. Their coffee, specifically “Jamaican Me Crazy”, (love the name) is wonderful. Many flavored coffees taste so artificial that I rarely drink them. I found Joffrey’s coffee to be exceptional. Anyway, long story short, I discovered that I could get 6% cash back from Joffrey’s when shopping through Cashbaq. No other cash back site featured Joffrey’s. Plus I had a 25% off coupon code Joffrey’s sent me
I earned $1.44 from my Joffrey’s purchase and it was credited to my Cashbaq account the very next day, before my coffee was even shipped! Such fast crediting to my account was indeed impressive.
More recently, Cashbaq lowered their payment threshhold from $25 to $10. You’ll get paid your cash back rewards once your account balance reaches $10. They process payouts on a monthly basis according to when you accrued your cash back. For instance, if I earn $10 in cash back rewards during the month of March, my check will be mailed on July 20th. This is a bit longer than Ebates quarterly payouts. To get you started, you’ll get $5 absolutely FREE just for signing up. They have over 1,400 merchants to shop from, so your favorite retailer is already likely on board with Cashbaq. There is also one super deal on their site right now. Purchase an Entertainment Book for $9.99 (they just lowered their prices again!) and you’ll get $10 cash back at Cashbaq….that makes it FREE and the Entertainment Book is chock-full of money-saving coupons.
Tell friends and family about Cashbaq and you’ll receive some nice incentives. You’ll earn 10% of your friend’s cash back…..and 5% of their friends….and 2% of their friends. Wow, if you have a lot of friends, that’s some nice cash back

I’ve been with Cashbaq for 3 yrs and it was fine for a while but now they owe me $113 and it was suppose to be released on January 20th and suddenly the date changed to March 20th. It seems like a woman owns it because I’ve only gotten a response from a Karen. After a few emails looking for my payment she responded saying she can’t respond to my emails anymore. I was at my limit apparently….I didn’t know after a few attempts asking where is my money and you get no more help. I’ve given her lots of business and I know she gets paid from the clients but holds on to peoples money. I am taking my business else where.
This is concerning. I have been a fan of Cashbaq for several years. I did notice earlier in the week that a payment I was expecting to be paid out to me on 1/20/11 magically got bumped to March all of a sudden. Subsequent web searches have shown that there is growing concern about Cashbaq and its ability to pay their loyal customers. If I get an update I will be sure to post it here. In the meantime, I’m amending this post to alert readers about this issue. Thanks for your feedback
