My frugal friends, it’s that time of year again where with the help of the US Postal Service, we can help those less fortunate than ourselves. Now is the perfect time to dig into your stockpile and help fight hunger. I hope that you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to give back. This Saturday, May 11th, is the annual Stamp Out Hunger Drive.
On Saturday, May 11th, letter carriers in more than 10,000 communities will collect food items and deliver them to local food banks to help some of the millions of Americans, including an estimated 16.7 million children, who face hunger every day.
Since 1993, families have donated nearly 1 billion pounds of food to Stamp Out Hunger. You can help make this year the most successful ever. Simply place bags filled with nonperishable food items like canned meats, fish, soup, juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal, and rice next to your mailbox on Saturday, May 11th. Your letter carrier will pick up the bags and deliver them to your local food bank.
