I came across some great information in the May issue of Good Housekeeping magazine (yes, another one of my favorite magazines!) Expert advice was offered on finding the most frugal airfare deals…so naturally I wanted to share some of those tips right here with you
For the best airfare deals it’s recommended that you surf the web from Mondays through Wednesday night..this is the window airlines have been using lately to clear out extra seats. Fare increases are usually posted on Thursday, which airline competitors tend to match on Fridays through Sundays. So, even though it may be most convenient to hunt for deals on weekends, that’s often when you’ll find the fewest deals.
If possible, fly on Tuesdays or Wednesdays..these are often the least in-demand flight days and therefore the least expensive. Whereas Saturdays and Sundays are typically the priciest. Did you know that a Wednesday to Wednesday itinerary can be as much as 20% lower than a Saturday to Saturday itinerary?
You also may want to try the airline equivalent of a private sale by signing up with a website like Airfarewatchdog.com. They can help you find the best-kept secrets in air travel, such as special promo code fares.
Lastly, use web resources such as Kayak.com, where you can search up to 200 websites at once to find the best available deal.
Do any of my frugal readers have any travel tips they would like to share?

If you’re like me, not only do you fail to do regular backups on your computer, you probably just don’t think about it…period. Many a time I’ve found myself thinking that I need to get busy and backup my documents…my photos…my favorites….all just in case my computer hard drive decides to go by the wayside. Well if you’re done fooling with CDs, DVDs, etc. to save all the important stuff, you have to check out Mozy.
Mozy is a simple and safe way to backup all the important stuff on your computer. A copy of your data is stored in a secure, remote location for safekeeping, so that in the event of disaster your data is still retrievable simply by requesting it. You can get 2 GB of 100% free backup space… there is no setup fee, no credit cards required, no monthly payments, and no expiration on your saved data. If you need more storage space you can get unlimited backup for $4.95 a month. I recommend trying their free storage option first to see how you like it. I just signed up within the last few days and am feeling better already about having my bases covered in case of a computer disaster.
